ENGKIDZ - STEM Spring Camp Instructor


Camp Instructors are responsible for running our STEM Spring camps. Instructor will ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to; lead STEM activities, project building and games with groups of children (age 7-13); organize camp supplies and equipment; set-up and clean-up duties; as well as other duties as required for camps to operate smoothly.


Description of Duties:
  • Lead in-person STEM Spring camps at Recreation Centers around lower mainland in a fun and engaging way.
  • Help kids build their hands-on projects and troubleshoot issues.
  • Exercise your creativity and help run fun activities
  • Gain experience in marketing, customer engagement, and other activities as needed
  • Prepare science project kits and science demonstrations for camp use
  • Adhere to all EngKidz's Camps’ policy and procedure
  • Supervise children and youth ages 7-13
  • Administer care in emergency and first aid incidents, exercising sound judgment and leadership, and defer to supervisors when appropriate
  • Pre and post camp set up and clean up duties
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications:
  • Previous children’s programming experience
  • Previous coaching or instructing experience
  • Experience working with children and youth in group settings
  • Class 5 or 7 driver's license and able to drive to various locations around Lower Mainland
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize safety, while creating fun and memorable experiences for camp participants
  • Ability to positively manage behavioural challenges
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Criminal Record Check, with a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification with CPR-C + AED
  • Ability to use personal cell phone for work purposes, including data required

Supervision Received:

This position works under direct supervision both independently and in a team environment. The employee works under a set of policies and procedures and is expected to defer to the supervisor when any judgment or decision making outside these parameters is required. The role maintains regular contact with the supervisor through email, phone and in-person interactions.


Contract Length:
  • 1-2 weeks March 18 – 22 & March 25 – 29, 2024
  • Full-time and Part-time hours available
  • Mandatory pre-camp in-person training:
    • Saturday March 9, 2024 (all day)
    • Saturday March 16, 2024 (all day)
Wage:
  • $22.00 per hour
