In this series, we encourage budding makers to combine engineering and art to create 5 amazing projects. Each class will incorporate fun quizzes, science simulations and hands-on project building. Recommended for ages 6-11.

Art and Engineering are inseparable, the great Leonardo da Vince proved this by applying his amazing artistic abilities to design and inspire modern day inventions. In this workshop, kids will learn to make circuits, discover forces on a merry-go-round, make musical instruments, build mechanical linkages and create awesome paint patterns. Like all EngKidz workshops, each project will be easily customizable so designing and tinkering can continue on for hours, limited only by the infinite world of imagination and creativity.

All our instructors are local BC Engineers with the know-how and the passion for engineering.

Note: No class on Nov 11 and Dec 2.

Age Groups

Typically 7-11 year old kids will enjoy the workshops the most, but we welcome all age groups who are willing to take on the challenge!

Typical Class

We meet live online on Zoom or similar conferencing app. During each class we introduce new science concepts using interactive simulations, cool science experiments, and fun quizzes/polls. Participants then work on building a relevant hands-on engineering project using the kits provided.

Project Kits/Materials

Cost for project kits is included in the program fees. Project kits for each class will be mailed before the start of the class. The projects are setup such that kids can complete them with minimal supervision, but parent participation is recommended for this virtual program.
*Shipping costs for locations outside Lower Mainland is extra.

Program Details

What

Program consists of 5 sessions of 90 mins each and includes project supplies.

Topics from the BC science curriculum will be introduced every week. Each class consists of interactive computer simulations, live demos, and one build and take home project related to the topic.
